Caroline Buchanan is a global BMX superstar. She is cycling royalty, adored by thousands of bike fans across the world. She is a two-time Olympian, and a three-time Elite Women’s BMX World Champion. Caroline has overcome serious injury and personal challenges to repeatedly climb back to the very top of the world rankings, drawing on reserves of strength, courage and determination.

She started racing at the age of five at the Kambah BMX track in Canberra. As an outstanding junior rider between the years 2000 to 2007, Caroline won her national age class seven times, the under 18 cruiser title three times, and was a finalist at the World Championships on four occasions. As an Elite rider, she won a further five national titles taking her overall tally of Australian #1 plates to fifteen. It was however, on the world stage of Elite Women’s BMX racing, that Caroline made her biggest mark. At the UCI World Championships, she won a staggering nine medals in seven years, including three gold. She competed at the London and Rio Olympic Games, claiming fifth place in the final in 2012.

Caroline Buchanan epitomises what it means to be a professional athlete in the 21st Century. She has grabbed every opportunity possible, recognising the potential to compete in other cycling disciplines alongside BMX, with incredible success. In the same seven years she was dominating Women’s BMX racing she broke new ground for BMX riders, turning her hand to mountain bike 4 Cross racing where she claimed a further five World Titles. Caroline is a trailblazer and an innovator in Women’s Extreme Sport, using her skills as a BMX rider to win events as diverse as Pump Track, 4 Cross, Dual Slalom and Slope Style. In 2013 her diverse cycling portfolio landed her the Sir Hubert Opperman Trophy for Australia's best all-round cyclist.

Off the track Caroline, was quick to realise the importance of self-promotion, establishing her brand, and the need to actively promote and support other aspiring young women in BMX. Since 2014, she has provided mentorship and financial support, helping other young Aussie girls achieve their 2 wheeled dreams, through her female rider sponsorship programs. Like most elite athletes, Caroline is humble, gracious, and eternally grateful for the special moments BMX has afforded her. 

At the very core of Caroline Buchanan is a passion for riding any two-wheeled vehicle.  She proudly says this is what grounds her, what centres her and what gives her an enduring love of life. She thrives on competition and mastering new skills, testing the limits of what she can achieve in cycling, and inspiring others to follow her lead. She is the 2023 Crankworx World Tour Champion and is not planning on slowing down any time soon. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Australian BMX megastar, Caroline Buchanan.
